This book takes the reader through John chapter 1:1-18, taking part of a verse each day and opening it up. The author weaves the Old Testament and New Testament together and really encourages you to meditate on who Jesus is. Unlike other advent devotionals, this has no stable, star or shepherds, but as the author says, ‘the focus is entirely upon Jesus, the God-became-man.’ Each day’s devotion is a few pages long, with titles such as ‘Light’, ‘Life’, ‘The way home’ and ‘The altogether lovely’. The chapter ends with a meditation which is usually a verse from a carol and a prayer.
