Born from a love for Wales and a desire for God to move in our land, Owen Cottom wrote this book to inspire us to join in God’s heart for mission and particularly for revival; not merely as a longing for what has happened in the past but for how God might work in our time. A simple prayer, ‘Do it again, Lord,’ at the end of a sermon on God’s reviving work led to this deep longing in Owen’s heart that spills out of the book.
Taking Psalm 85 as his launchpad, Owen pulls out a theme from the psalm for each of the chapters. He begins with a brief reflection on the history of revival that dwells within our land, and moves on to how any restorative work of God must be rooted in the same gospel and its power to revive. Then we consider our commitment to prayer, our willingness to go to the marginalised, and our need for humble yet courageous leadership. The final chapter is a wonderful rounding up that spurs us on to seek God moving in our time through revival.
The book comes from a humble yet hungry heart for God to be at work. It doesn’t beat down the reader but gives a warm, encouraging call to seek the Lord and his heart for revival. Oh, for every Christian in Wales to imbibe the spirited challenge of this book!
