Podcast review — Faith In The Fire

Faith In The Fire

Let Luke Joshua Smith, a Christian storyteller and poet, take you to Nigeria. It is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians, with over 5,000 killed in 2023.

Be prepared for a sensory experience. Luke vividly conveys the warmth, the smells, the sounds, the laughter and the beauty of the country. Yet, what moves your heart is the experience of the believers he interviews. In each episode, you meet Christians who have suffered unimaginable loss of every sort and yet still praise their Maker and give him the glory. In episode one, Luke meets Nambam, whose husband was brutally killed for his faith, leaving her and her small children with no income. She still sings to her Lord, a beautiful song, which is captured in the recording. Luke says, ‘It was a song of worship, of thanksgiving. It came from a place so raw, so filled with faith, that I felt it to my core. In her heart language, she sang of God’s faithfulness, his goodness, his presence, her voice rising and falling with every verse. The song filled that small home.’

These podcasts are only thirteen minutes long, but they take you to the heart of the suffering church in Nigeria.
