Before You Share Your Faith – Five ways to be evangelism ready

I was introduced to this little book by the pastor of a large and vibrant church where I was preaching. During the service, he was urging every member of the congregation to take a copy before they left. Reading it myself when I got home, I can see why.
Amongst the warm endorsements on the back cover, Glen Scrivener simply writes, ‘I can’t think of a better short encouragement toward evangelism.’ That’s the point. The key is in the title. This is not yet another ‘how to do evangelism’ book. I don’t know about you, but I often find these intimidating, and therefore rather discouraging. This book is about how to prepare yourself to speak the good news.
It covers the essentials of the gospel message, plus cultural sensitivity, developing a love for the lost and facing your fear. It also stresses the vital importance of fellowship in evangelism, by prayerful, mutual encouragement within the church. In closing, this useful little book emphasises that our ultimate motivation to evangelise is that it brings glory to God.
An excellent, easy-to-read book to put in the hands of every church member. Who knows where it might lead?
