A Certain Brightness – Bible Devotions For Troubled Times

Each chapter is a devotion based on a five word promise from the Bible, aimed to bring the comfort of the gospel. Why just five words? Let Philippa explain, ‘I have deliberately focused on five words so that even the most exhausted, energy deprived person might be able to read and meditate on them and hopefully meet Jesus.’ After the thirty five promises come four appendices on the subject of depression giving ‘bite size’ advice for sufferers and supporters. We all fall into one of those two categories. Philippa herself is a sufferer and so writes with great compassion. Appendix three is a masterpiece, a letter that starts ‘Dear Depression’. Read it and see the grace-filled ending. Buy two and give one away!
