March/April 2026

Boxing Day brought with it an unplanned excursion. One of our guests had a dietary requirement that hadn’t been accounted for – mostly my fault! We needed a last-minute trip to the supermarket. As I neared the tills, something caught my eye: Easter Eggs already on display. Surely Boxing Day is too early for Easter Eggs?

The link between Christmas and Easter is essential. At Christmas, we often rightfully emphasise the Easter events, pointing out that Jesus entered our world to die as the Saviour. Do we give the incarnation such a spotlight at Easter? Without his full humanity, Jesus couldn’t have died in our place for our sinfulness. Without his full divinity, he couldn’t have been free from sin to take our sin. Because of his two natures as God and human, death was not able to hold him and his resurrection pioneers our own eternal future.

Easter is fast approaching, and this edition features several articles related to the occasion. Richard Baxter writes on why Easter is such good news, and you could share this article with someone who isn’t yet a Christian. Clive Bowsher helps us consider how the crucifixion enables and shapes our union with Christ. Three members of our editorial board offer practical insights from their own evangelistic experiences to give us some ideas for our church evangelism at Easter.

We also continue with our various series. Jeremy Bailey concludes our deep dive into the EMW Statement of Faith by focussing on the return of Jesus. Trystan Hallam shares his favourite hymn, written by Ann Griffiths. Sheila Stephen reflects on how Jesus met with the woman at the well. In our Practically Speaking series, Simon Arscott helps us think more deeply about how we approach communion. This edition also launches a new series exploring the various ministries within EMW, beginning with Steve and Deb Davies’ encouraging look at the work of Bryn y groes.

With these and several other articles, along with reviews and news, there is plenty to enjoy. Our prayer is that God uses it for your good and his glory.
