Brian Nott

1 minute readSeptember/October 2018, page 29

Rev Brian Nott went to be with the Lord on 29 June 2018 aged 77. The funeral was conducted by Brian’s successor in the pastorate in Ogmore Vale, Rev Owen Batstone, assisted at the graveside by Rev Gwynne Evans, Hayes.

Converted aged 24 while a secondary school art teacher, Brian was soon enthusiastically sharing the gospel with pupils and others. Many young people were converted in Clydach at that time. Having married Ann, whom he had known since school days, Brian went on to study at South Wales Bible College. From Barry he moved to Above Bar Church, Southampton to be assistant minister to Leith Samuel. Brian subsequently pastored churches in Tredegar, Abersychan and, from 1985 to 2012, Ogmore Vale. Apart from his Christ-centred preaching ministry, he was a faithful pastor and evangelist to the people of his communities. Brian and Ann will also be remembered by many for the years they led the children’s programme at the EMW Aberystwyth conference.

Alzheimer’s Disease took a cruel toll on Brian from his early 70s. Leith Samuel often quoted the words of Scripture which describe Brian’s present position: ‘With Christ which is far better.’
